In the distant future, two men meet under unusual circumstances-- one seemingly insane, and out of control; the other, assigned to kill him. When they meet, only a woman's cry can keep them both alive.
Thus the saga of Planetfall begins. Agent Cole, a man who finds himself wandering aimlessly, the past five years of his life erased from his mind, meets Agent Jenkins, a man just recently reinstated into the Atlantis Agency. Another agent, Tirian, keeps them from killing each other when she recognizes Cole from her own past. That decision will set into motion the most important set of events in the history of the universe.
A year later, the three have been reteamed as partners and assigned to the planet Terra, the only home humans know. In Boughcaith, the city where Cole grew up, they live in Cole's old house and protect the region from attacks by dragons. They are also in the process of protecting and training two new Atlantis recruits-- Tabast and Tagan Tela, two members of the indiginous Terran race. Humans and Terrans share a conflicted past, however, and adjusting themselves to calling each other colleagues is difficult for all five of the agents.
For Cole, however, the real battle is happening within. He struggles to live without knowledge of the past-- he feels as if he's been born all over and must start life again from scratch. But his memories haunt him in his dreams. Something seems to be calling him, warning him, but he can't understand these emotions. His instinct tells him he's on the threshold of something big. Only time will tell if he's correct.
In the distaance, shadowy figures are watching the agents, some from a distance, others very close by. It's clear that people around Tirian, Jenkins and Cole know more than they do about what lies ahead. Who are these people, and how will they factor into the lives of the Atlantis Agents?
More than three years ago, I wrote a story about a factory worker named Cole who discovered a stone, one that let him change his iron hammer into any form he wanted. He eventually learned that his planet was headed for a collision with another, and became the only man who could stop the sinister forces responsible using his newfound ability.
Today, you wouldn't be able to recognize my original concept of Planetfall as the same story that exists in the comics you can download from this web page. While I've changed the story immeasurably, a few things have stayed the same. The characters I've loved for three years have really become a part of me. More importantly, I want to tell an epic story with Planetfall that not only captures people's imaginations, but speaks to current issues and concerns that I want to address through my writing.
I've been changing and developing the story arc of Planetfall for three years, and it's become so broad in scope now that I was unsure even of where to begin when I was finally ready to sit down and produce the comic. I decided to come in at perhaps the most important starting point in the series, when Cole begins his new life after losing five years of his memory. He starts with a blank slate, so we will get to see the world unfold through his eyes, as he makes discoveries about his past, the people around him, and the forces at work in the universe.
I plan to add a lot more to this section eventually. As the story continues to unfold, I'll use it as an encyclopedia of information to help keep things straight. Also, look for me to put up a few early pictures of Planetfall so you can muse about how different the series was back then.
